Valet car parking specialists Cruise and Passenger Services (CPS) and port terminal operators Southampton Cargo Handling (SCH) have helped to make Southampton the top UK cruise ship departure port following the inaugural Wave Awards.

The port was selected as winner by an editorial panel of World of Cruising, Cruise Ports & Destinations and Cruise Trade News at the awards ceremony in London.

Southampton beat 11 other British ports to take the Best UK Departure Port title.

CPS is the UK’s leading valet car parking company, ensuring the safe keeping of some 75,000 cars while passengers are away. Most of the company’s business is in Southampton but CPS also serves passengers at Liverpool, Portsmouth and Oban in Scotland. SCH provides baggage handling, stores loading and mooring services to some 70 Southampton cruise ship callers a year.

Business Development Manager Lee Davis commented: “As major suppliers in the cruise industry, CPS and SCH congratulate Southampton on its number one cruise status and remain committed to maintaining the high levels of service that have enabled the port to win this prestigious award.”
Southampton port manager, Clive Thomas said: “We are thrilled to be named the Best UK Departure Port.

“ABP Southampton prides itself on providing an excellent departure experience for all cruise passengers and it is fantastic to be recognised for this quality service by the Wave Awards judging panel.”
