SCH Director Kevin Hulme may be more used to landside operations but he took to the water to help crew the 50ft Bella of London yacht to a respectable finish in the annual Round the Island race.
Kevin was a guest of logistics giant OIA Global as he teamed up with other seven crew members to take on the gruelling challenge of sailing round the Isle of Wight on board the Italian inspired Grand Soleil luxury yacht.
In bright but blustery conditions, Bella of London completed the course in just over eight hours and finished a creditable 75th in class, which computed to 293rd place out of the 985 yachts that completed the race.
Kevin said it was an unforgettable experience, adding: “It was hard work but a fantastic day with everyone working really well together to get the boat round the course and home to a strong finish.”
