SCH has launched a new service for forwarders offering specialist cargo loading services on flat racks in the Port of Southampton.

Based on its expertise in securing and lashing high and heavy cargoes, SCH will utilise dedicated facilities in the Port’s Western Docks to load out-of-gauge or conventional sized cargoes on 20ft,40ft or 45ft racks.

The new facility is within a short distance of Southampton’s container port which hosts a network of global services. Alternatively, cargoes can be loaded on ro-ro vessels. SCH is the Port of Southampton’s major stevedore for deep-sea ro-ro cargoes and operates its own haulage equipment.

SCH Operations Director Lee Davis explained: “We will provide a turn-key service, including the provision of flat racks and trailers, expert securing and lashing and transport to the point of loading.

“Securing large cargoes, particularly out-of-gauge loads, on flat racks requires specialist expertise and we will use our considerable experience to ensure that every piece of equipment we secure meets the relevant criteria in this area. We have all the attributes and facilities to guarantee an efficient service.”
