SCH has embarked on a busy cruise season in Southampton with the arrival of Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Silhouette.
The first of some 50 cruise calls to be handled by SCH in Southampton saw the Ponant Cruises icebreaker vessel Le Commandant Charcot make her maiden call at the port, with a short turnaround stay before embarking on a travel agent seminar voyage to Brest.
That proved to be the curtain raiser to the first call of the season by Celebrity Silhouette with the Celebrity Cruises vessel kicking off a summer season of sailings to the Mediterranean and Scandinavia.
Later in May, Royal Caribbean International’s Anthem of the Seas will start her Southampton programme, which will see nearly 20 calls during the season.
SCH’s extensive range of cruise ship services, including baggage handling, stores loading and mooring, will also support Silversea Cruises, Azamara Cruises and Crystal Cruises in Southampton this summer. In addition, SCH will support cruise turnaround and day calls in Liverpool.
Cruise Operations Manager Louis Colpitts explained: “This year should be another step towards returning to pre-pandemic levels of cruise business and we expect our volumes to increase significantly on last year’s totals.”
