Administrator Lucy Donnelly has taken her first step on the career ladder with SCH by completing her Level 2 Business Administration apprenticeship.

Lucy joined SCH in Liverpool last year after completing her A levels. She successfully applied for the role through the National Apprenticeship website and, once SCH identified a pathway, she was offered the opportunity to develop her qualifications by studying for an NVQ, Functional Skills and Technical Certificate.

Lucy completed a series of on-line modules and tests linked to her work, with an assessor visiting regularly to check on her progress and discuss coursework where the topics included: Understanding how to prepare business documents; Understanding how to collate and report data; Understanding information storage and retrieval and several more.

Lucy’s success in completing the course has now led to her being offered a permanent role at SCH where her role covers creating and filling out timesheets, invoicing, filing, scanning, making phone calls, keeping track of the Cruise schedule and dealing with the monthly receipts.

She explains: “This qualification has been significant for my career in giving me experience of working within an administrative role and it has also allowed me to gain an ICT qualification which will make my abilities within Business administration stronger.”

SCH HR Manager June Furner added: “Lucy has worked extremely hard to improve her skills through on the job training and study. SCH is committed to supporting the development of its employees and Lucy has responded by becoming a valuable member of our team in Liverpool. She is playing an important role in the development of our operations in the port.”
