SCH Motoprep’s team competing in this season’s series of BMW F900R Cup motorcycle races made a successful start in the first race of the summer at Silverstone.

SCH Motorprep technical manager Rob Smith has handed over his S1000RR race bike to son Christian who now has the SCH backing for this season. After a pre-season trials session in Spain, Christian made an excellent start to the opening race at Silverstone, winning the heat that acted as a prelude to the main race.

Christian finished just in front of his twin brother Kieran, making it a 1-2 for Team Smith Twins Racing and the first winning ride in a British National Championship for Team SCH Motoprep.

Although lining up on the grid in the top six, things did not go quite so well in the main race. Christian got away cleanly and was battling at the front on lap six when he lost the front-end entering turn two. Fortunately, he was straight up and sustained no injuries, with the bike sustaining minor damage.

Christian will be hoping for better luck in the second race of the season at Oulton Park.
