Flexible Workforce Management
SCH Ltd manages fluctuations and non-standard shift patterns by utilising a flexible workforce across our UK wide port operations. Staff dedicated to cruise stevedoring, for example, can be reassigned to Southampton if not required in Portsmouth or vice versa ensuring best utilisation of personnel. Our service portfolio, which includes Cruise Valet Parking and RORO operations, provides additional opportunities for staff redeployment, enabling us to maintain workforce efficiency while meeting demand across locations.
Through our subsidiary company, Pathfinder Personnel ltd, we have access to a pool of trained, flexible personnel who can be strategically deployed across locations based on operational requirements. Being in control our own agency staff rather than relying on third part agencies means that we can allocate replacement personnel at short notice, as we are based in Southampton with circa 60 full time employees also means that we could divert our own personnel from at short notice should we need to.
We have processes and procedure in place detailed elsewhere to allow us to communicate change to ship times quickly and effectively, with no shift times in place our staff work when we tell them to start and we are in control of the finish times. We also do not have to manage shift changes in the middle of operations.
Smart Task Distribution
Tasks are allocated based on staff skills, availability, and operational needs, with real-time adjustments through coordination with Pathfinder Personnel Ltd and our dedicated Allocators team. Supervisors oversee task distribution for optimal resource use, while our software system monitors progress and maintains service standards.
