SCH was among a group of expert companies invited to attend a specialist workshop on cargo lashing in Southampton’s Eastern Docks.
The Ro-Ro Rodeo, hosted by Wallenius Wilhelmsen, included lashing demonstrations, guest speakers and promotional displays by leading suppliers of stevedoring equipment and manpower.
Stevedores demonstrated to visitors how valuable cargo such as heavy vehicles, cars and breakbulk cargo is shipped securely by being fixed to the decks of ro-ro vessels using specialist lashings.
SCH’s team of experts, comprising Scott Stewart and Gezim Limaj, along with Derek Edgar and Charlie Deards from Pathfinder Personnel, showed off their skills as the audience of shippers and port users was given an insight into ro-ro operations.
The live stevedore demonstrations were accompanied by guest speaker presentations during the two-day event held under the umbrella message of “Safety First Way of Working.”
SCH Senior Operations Manager Mark Living explained: “It was a great opportunity for SCH personnel to showcase their specialist ro-ro skills and we were grateful to Wallenius Wilhelmsen for the chance to take part in the event.”
